Very nice, I've seen the last pic for real I think. It's near southshield right?

UK countryside is very underrated I think on this forum.

I'm enjoying this series of threads spankymonkey, it's good to get people to notice the UK outside of London. It has some truely stunning locations and such a great variety too. I visited the Peak District for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I never realised just how beautiful it is, the coutryside around there is simply stunning and as with other places across Britain the landscape is enhanced by some magnificent little towns and villages.

I wouldnt worry, its the main mis-conception.

British countryside is some of the best. its just not portrayed enough outside of this country, and in some cases not enough in the UK itself.

I just hope people will recognise it more ... and start to go skiing in the Cairngorms

Ah - glad to see Corfe Castle - one of the craziest castles ever perched high above the surrounding area. Its best seen in the morning when there is dew and mist and this pic brilliantly shows it. I believe some scolars believe it is the inspiration behind Weathertop in Lord of the Rings....

Just had to add these cool images:

Another favourite - Portchester Castle - to the top of the image is Portsmouth home of the Royal Navy and by home during University term time

And for deserts - Arundel Castle

Nice but I don't find it that crazy.

What do you think of this one? I call this crazy.

I love Arundel castle! I was driving off once about 30 castles and cathedrals all around the UK in 12 days in 95... but a thing like THIS is unique in the world (maybe only Borobodur was more impressive - haven't been to Ankor yet):

Fountain Abbey

My fav town: Chester

Canterbury (the first english city I've known - exchange program with my high school in 86):

Edinburgh (not very countryside, but a great city)

Hadrian's Wall:

Land's End:

Yorkshire Dales:

Loch Lomond with Ben Lomond:
